Update written by Nate Johnson, MAV Community Outreach Coordinator (07/18/17):
MAV continues to collect information to inform the project permitting efforts. In late June this included a wetland survey of potential cable routes on Monhegan if the community chooses to proceed with a cable benefit option. In addition, Terry Dewan, a landscape architect visited the island to take photographs from various viewpoints for the purpose of visual simulations of Project components. Terry and his staff held an informational session on June 28 that was well attended and provided constructive feedback on his work and island concerns. MAV also participated in a meeting with local fishermen, facilitated by the Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association, on June 29 in St. George to provide an update on the MAV Project and listen to their concerns.
The Department of Energy has also continued their NEPA process for the Project. Additional information is available at DOE’s website for the Project: https://energy.gov/nepa/ea-2049-university-maine-s-new-england-aqua-ventus-i-offshore-wind-advanced-technology
